Canada PR Guide 2026
Canada PR offers multiple pathways through Express Entry (FSW, CEC, FST), Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP), Quebec immigration, and family sponsorship. Express Entry manages applications via the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) with regular draws.
Visa Options & Categories
Express Entry FSW: Points-based (100 grid, 67 minimum). CRS 470+ recommended. Occupation TEER 0/1/2/3. IELTS 7.0+ (CLB 9). Processing 6 months. No job offer required.
Express Entry CEC: 1+ year Canadian skilled work. CRS 480+ recommended. Processing 6 months. No LMIA for most. Most common PR pathway for temporary workers.
Express Entry FST: Skilled trades. 2+ years trade experience. Job offer or Canadian certificate. Lower CRS (350-420). Processing 6 months.
PNP (Provincial Nominee): Province-specific streams. Enhanced PNP: 600 CRS bonus (guaranteed ITA). Base PNP: paper-based, 12-18 months. Employer-driven and human capital streams.
Quebec Immigration (QSWP): Quebec selects its own immigrants. Validated Job Offer (VJO) gives points. French B2+ mandatory. CSQ then PR. Processing 12-24 months.
Family Sponsorship (Spouse): Spouses and common-law partners (12+ months). No income minimum for spouse. Processing 12-15 months. Sponsorship undertaking: 3 years.
Family Sponsorship (Parents): PGP lottery annually. Income LICO + 30%. Super Visa available during wait. Processing 24-36 months. 20-year sponsorship undertaking.
Caregiver Programs: Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker. 12 months Canadian experience then PR. Occupation-specific. Family included. No CRS.
